Jewels like the ones shown on this site

Our models come from the workshop of the Arkhaoui family. Some are classical pieces of berber jewelry, and you can fond them in several places in Tiznit, others are specific models that you will find nowhere else.

The alloys might be different. The alrge majority of the pieces sold in the shop have a hallmark, with the main excpetion of the ancient ones and the pieces imported from Mauritania.

If you request it, it is possible to cast any model in nickel-free silver, with a hallmark for 825 ‰ or 920 ‰. Some models, sold out here can be still available in Morocco.

Traditionnal jewelry

Small "baboosh" (small ear-rings made with a very thin filigree), "Hamsa" or hands of Fatima (luck charm), necklace in niello-silver or enamelled, or made with a thin silver chain where old coins are hanged, and fibula in all possible forms, these are the daily-life jewels of Moroccan women. You will find them in Tiznit. in general, ear-rings are for pierced ears, but you can always have clips fastened, later on, in Europe.

Antic jewels

ancient rings

It is the secret treasure of the shop. Well not so secret... but protected in wondows, beautiful old sets of southern Morocco and Sahara, like these mauritanian and berber rings.

The ring in fornt might be jewish, maybe not. The David star is a protection symbol which was widely used in Morocco, under the name of Solomon sceal, or Magen, and it was even displayed on the flag of the sultans.

Daggers are a specialty of the area. Bijouterie de La Joie has precious ones, and heavy berber necklaces in ambergris... a real treasure, and the Arkhaoui brothers will be happy to share it with you, drinking a glass of mint tea!
